This guy built the world’s longest-range Tesla that could travel more than 3,000 miles without charging, but a major problem nearly ruined everything.

The YouTube channel Warped took on the task of building a cordless Tesla Turbo Diesel 3.0.

Driving for 3,500 miles without charging was a major accomplishment.

But the journey wasn’t without its issues.

How was it modded to become the world’s longest-range Tesla?

A diesel engine was attached to charge the Tesla’s battery.

Sounds like a great idea, right?

It allowed for this YouTuber to take the car cross-country, over thousands of miles without charging.

All in all, the kitted-out car managed 3,500 miles – a round trip from the American Midwest to Atlanta, Georgia – without needing to be charged the conventional way.

Once he got to Atlanta, he must have been wiping his brow with relief.

But that’s where a major problem kicked in for the world’s longest-range Tesla.

And when we say major, we mean it.

When a massive noise started from the back of the car, the YouTuber muttered, ‘That doesn’t sound good’, and the camera cut.

Well, it turned out that a fire had broken out in the car and needed to be put out.

“Every questionable design decision I made came back to bite me,” he lamented.

But after repairs and with burnt hands, he was back on the road and homeward bound.

It’s a good thing he had a quick reaction or this crisis could have ended up a lot worse.

When things go wrong with cars, they really go wrong

Things don’t always go to plan, that’s just how life is.

But when things go awry with cars, it can prove to be very costly and stressful.

We’ve seen enough cases of that to know it’s true.

One Florida man switched out his Chevy Silverado for a Toyota Tacoma, only to have it backfire within five days.

For one man, it was his BMW Z3M Coupe that turned out to be a disaster, whilst it was a 500,000 mile Mercedes giving this Texas woman a headache.

In trying circumstances like this, it’s important to keep a cool head and try to be solution oriented.
