This is the world’s most powerful production car, the Koenigsegg Gemera.

It’s nearly twice as powerful as the Bugatti Veyron.

And the crazy thing is, this isn’t even a supercar, technically.

But there’s something very important to bear in mind.

How Koenigsegg created the world’s most powerful vehicle

The Koenigsegg Gemera is the world’s most powerful production car, but Koenigsegg also used it to create a new category that didn’t even exist.

That’s because the Gemera is the world’s first four-seater hypercar.

It uses an extremely complicated combination of engines.

For starters, it has not one but two internal combustion engines with 11 cylinders in total, which is definitely unheard of.

Its 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 works in tandem with a twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine.

Then there are three electric motors.

As a result, the car is capable of producing up to 2,300hp on E85 fuel sourced from a volcano – literally.

This, as a reminder, is a car with four seats.

The range is also spectacular. With a full tank of fuel and ‘energy’, you can drive it up to 909 miles (1,463kms) in one go.

In theory, that’s enough to drive from London to Paris and back.

The reason why it’s called the ‘Gemera’

Most Koenigseggs are named after Swedish verbs, with the exception of the Jesko, which is a tribute to the company’s founder’s father.

The Regera, for example, is named after the Swedish word for ‘to reign’.

Then there’s the Agera, which means ‘to act’.

The name that Koenigsegg chose for the Gemera is a bit more complicated than that.

Gemera isn’t a verb, but it is the combination of ge, which is Swedish for ‘to give’, and mera, which means ‘more’.

With 2,300hp at your disposal, the Gemera is definitely capable of ‘giving more’.

In fact, we can’t think of any car that can ‘give more’ than the Gemera in terms of power output.
