The new Xpeng seven-seater electric SUV will let you take a karaoke break during road trips

The new Xpeng X9 is now available outside China and it comes with in-car karaoke.

The sizable seven-seater is a family car designed for long journeys.

And the company has clearly thought of everything.

You don’t often get to see a car that’s also a karaoke machine.

A proper family car

Unlike so many other vehicles made by companies based in China, the Xpeng X9 is not exclusive to the Chinese market but it is also available in other markets and regions, including the UK.

You get two choices for the battery, either 94.8kWh or 105kWh.

Translated into English, this means you get 403 or 436 miles of range.

More to the point, you also get automatic sliding doors on both sides, a panoramic roof and a 21.4-inch rear infotainment screen.

The karaoke machine with six mics is the car’s party piece.

It also has a dropdown TV for passengers in the back.

Prices in the UK are expected to start at around £39,000 – equivalent to $51,000.

Why the Xpeng name might sound familiar

Xpeng is a Chinese company that’s making a name for itself in the artificial intelligence field.

So far, it’s built humanoid robots to rival the likes of the Tesla Optimus, as well as flying cars for which the company claims it’s already received thousands of orders.

More importantly, the company has already successfully applied for the relevant certifications to make these cars airworthy.

Xpeng is also building self-driving tech.

Xpeng is using the same strategy as Tesla for its autonomous driving tech, focusing 100 percent on cameras, with no help from radars or Lidar technology.

There’s an ongoing debate when it comes to self-driving tech because some brands are using cameras while others are using Lidars.

No one knows which of these two strategies will prove more successful.

Only time will tell.
