This YouTuber bought KSI’s old Volkswagen Lupo, with the aim of turning it into an ‘off-road monster’ within a week.

When Sam Hard, host of Hard Up Garage, purchased the abandoned Volkswagen Lupo, it was evident that it needed a lot of work.

The Lupo was filthy, neglected, and covered in graffiti.

But what these guys pulled off in just one week is nothing short of remarkable.

Taking KSI’s old Volkswagen Lupo and turning it around in one week

KSI is a man with a lot of notches in his belt – he’s a boxer, a musician, and he has millions of subscribers on YouTube.

As the owner of several businesses, he has a bit of money to play with too.

So it probably came as a surprise to some people to hear he’d spent only $675 (£500) on a Volkswagen Lupo.

KSI’s old Volkswagen Lupo was filthy and covered in ‘Kids on board’ graffiti, making it look like it’d spent a night in a bad neighborhood.

It may have banked millions of views for KSI, but it wasn’t looking like a million bucks in any sense of the word.

Despite this, Sam had big plans for it.

If you’re familiar with his channel, you’ll know that he’s taken on some interesting cars before, from the ‘worst and cheapest Lambo on Earth‘ to the ‘worst Christmas present ever‘ and even three abandoned Fast & Furious cars.

But when it came to this old Volkswagen, he wanted to turn it into an ‘off road monster’, and make it happen within a week.

“That’s easier said than actually done,” Hard said.

“I’ll have to use all my mechanical skills, use all of my favors, and hope for a miracle or two to rebuild this car.”

As if a week deadline wasn’t enough pressure, he was planning to show it off to KSI himself in hopes of getting his ‘seal of approval’.

What did KSI think of this new and improved car?

Hard spent around $7,867 (£5,800) on the car at auction, when he estimated it would be worth way less than that in its condition.

Even looking into the hood brought some gruesome elements with it, as mold had started to seep in.

It had been off the road since 2023, to be fair.

But even with all those issues, the little car had life left in it still.

And what would KSI make of it once he laid his eyes on the new and improved Lupo?

The week between purchase and reveal wasn’t smooth sailing – the Lupo needed some new wheels and tires, for a start.

“It also needs a roof tent because my wife will kick me out because I spent so much on it and I’ll be sleeping in the car,” Hard joked at one point.

When the big day finally arrived, Lupo was sitting beneath a red sheet waiting for its big reveal.

KSI was on the scene and ready to feast his eyes on his old set of wheels.

“We went with a 2 inch body lift, we went with a 2 inch wheel lift, we went with an external roll cage, roof tent, sound system,” Hard declared, as the cloth was pulled back.

“This is the world’s first lifted off-roading Lupo!”

KSI was left stunned by the big reveal.

“It’s weird seeing it again,” the British YouTuber said.

“That’s actually really cool! That’s sick!”

For clarity, ‘sick’ is slang for ‘cool’ in the UK.

He was particularly impressed with the roof tent.

“I think you’ve upgraded the car!” he said.

The car is now being raffled off, with proceeds going to Santa’s A Gangster – a charity which gives gifts to children in need.

So you have an awesome looking car and a worthy cause, what could be better than that?

To lay your eyes on KSI’s old Volkswagen Lupo for yourself, you can head over to Hard Up Garage’s channel.
