Building a remote-controlled plane is one thing, building the world’s biggest RC Airbus A380 is something else entirely.

One US YouTuber did exactly that after months of painstaking work in his workshop.

The giant aircraft was packed with electronics, moving parts, and enough power to rival some small airplanes.

Eventually, the moment of truth arrived: the first time the massive RC A380 would leave the ground.

The world’s biggest RC Airbus A380 finally takes flight

Ramy from the Ramy RC YouTube channel spent months building what he says is the world’s biggest RC Airbus A380-800, documenting the process as the enormous model slowly came together.

The aircraft was loaded with 39 servos and five actuators controlling systems like the flaps, landing gear doors, and spoilers.

Even the landing gear alone was incredibly detailed, with 12 wheels and individual braking systems.

All of that required an intricate web of wiring running through the fuselage and wings, connecting to specialized controllers capable of handling the huge number of channels needed to operate everything.

The giant aircraft also relied on a gyro stabilization system to keep it steady in the air which becomes essential when your model plane is bigger than a full-size Cessna.

Power came from four massive electric ducted fans generating an estimated 450 pounds of thrust combined, an extraordinary figure for a model aircraft.

After final checks on the brakes, flaps, and spoilers, the aircraft was finally ready for its maiden flight.

“I know this is going to fly good,” Ramy said, as the team assembled the wings and prepared the aircraft.

When the throttles went forward, the giant RC airliner accelerated down the runway and lifted off cleanly.

Though he later joked the moment wasn’t quite as effortless as it looked.

“Easy peasy… not really,” he laughed.

The plane even reached speeds of about 103 miles per hour during the flight, which is remarkable considering its massive size.

The giant Airbus project isn’t finished yet

Despite the successful maiden flight, the project still isn’t completely done.

Ramy explained the aircraft will undergo many more flights before receiving its final paint job.

And that livery won’t be random either.

He revealed the model will eventually wear Lufthansa’s 100th-anniversary blue design with the iconic crane logo across the fuselage.

A fitting look for a plane inspired by the world’s largest passenger jet.

Considering the complexity of the build, getting the aircraft airborne at all was already a huge milestone.

But if Ramy has his way, this won’t be the last oversized airliner he builds.

In fact, he hinted the next project could be just as ambitious.
