A YouTuber who discovered an abandoned semi-truck that had been parked for 50 years revealed what happened when he tried to start it.

The 1950s Super Power had previously been used as a working vehicle but had since been retired and spent decades off the road in the Tennesee Hills.

As you might imagine, the truck had seen better days and was in serious need of some attention.

But where some folks may look at such a vehicle and think it’s junk that’s only worthy of a scrapyard, others see potential.

The old semi-truck had seen better days

One such person who was able to look beyond the rust was car enthusiast and YouTube content creator Bruce Wilson.

Wilson regularly challenges himself to see if he can get old, abandoned vehicles back up and running.

You may recall the time he tried – and succeeded – to power up a truck that had been parked since 1995; or the occasion when he attempted to bring an abandoned diesel locomotive back to life

In a more recent challenge, Wilson headed out to Tennessee to check out a 1950s semi-truck.

After buying the truck, he was met with his first problem: getting the thing loaded onto a trailer and into his shop.

While that may sound fairly straightforward, the truck had been parked for so long that it was practically a part of the local landscape with trees and plants growing across it – and let’s not get started on the rust.

Removing the truck was a delicate operation

Getting the semi-truck out of the place it had been parked for the last 50 or so years, was an extremely delicate job and the team had to be careful not to cause the vehicle any further damage in the process.

Nonetheless, Wilson and his team pressed on and managed to carefully and safely extract the Super Power with the help of a winch system that was able to guide it out and get it on its way to Wilson’s shop.

After a very careful trip back to the shop, Wilson was able to unload the vintage truck from its trailer and start working on a plan to restore it.

Isn’t it nice to see a bit of history like this preserved?
