Man spends 24 hours with his home only being powered by his EV and shares how viable it is at the end of it

This guy tried powering his entire home using a Leapmotor B10, a small EV from China.

The idea was simple, as the goal was simply to demonstrate you could realistically power a house with an electric vehicle without altering your routine.

He turned off his home’s main electricity and used a specialized V2L adapter to plug in household appliances.

It was a long list that included a fridge, a toaster, a vacuum cleaner, a dishwasher, and even a microwave.

Could you power your home with an EV?

YouTuber Efficient Alex attempted to power his entire home routine for 24 hours using what’s sometimes known as V2L, which stands for Vehicle-to-Load.

For this experiment, he used a Leapmotor B10, which is a compact SUV from China.

Amazingly, it all worked.

“It’s amazing how easy it is to just power the entire routine and house for 24 hours,” Alex noted.

The temperature inside the fridge remained ideal, the vacuum cleaner worked, the dishwasher worked, and he even managed to cook dinner.

After 24 hours of use, which also included a 15-mile drive, the car’s battery had dropped from 100 percent to 76 percent, consuming only 24 percent of its capacity, which is outstanding.

But there was still something worth noting.

Why this isn’t a viable long-term solution

In general, EVs are fully capable of powering other things.

Some people have even attempted to charge an electric car using another electric car.

However, this is designed as a stopgap solution, not a permanent fix or substitute.

A long list of things could go wrong.

In the long run, the power output may not remain stable, or the battery may suddenly deteriorate and so on.

Still, the fact that you could, if you wanted to, power a home with a car is a great result.
