A YouTuber is attempting to smash a seven-minute lap at the Nurburgring Nordschleife – known as the world’s most dangerous track – something that only elite-level racers have managed.

The iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife is a track that needs no introduction.

The track measures just shy of 13 miles (20.8km) and is packed with turns and corners, alongside several spots where the vehicle tackling the track might find itself airborne.

And YouTuber and car enthusiast Mr JWW is attempting to break a seven-minute laptime. Best of luck.

The fastest qualifying time for the track is six minutes, 11 seconds, set by the late Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 in 1983.

The track is so tough that only a handful of professional drivers have managed to secure a sub-seven-minute lap time, although plenty of amateurs have given the track a go.

The track’s scary reputation wasn’t enough to put off Mr JWW, either.

He’s set himself the challenge of not only whipping around the track but also doing it in less than seven minutes.

Ahead of taking on the impressive feat, he headed out to meet the team at Manthey Racing, who are experts when it comes to high-performance Porsche race cars.

Fortunately for the YouTuber, Manthey Racing chief engineer, Felix Silla, was happy to sign up as his ‘personal engineer’ for the project.

He was also given the opportunity to become the first-ever amateur driver to have a go in the Manthey race simulator, which is a next-level bit of tech, featuring a real Porsche Cup car chassis and a steering wheel from a GT3R. How cool is that?

He was also offered some top advice on how to tackle the turns and corners at the world’s most dangerous track.

The YouTuber also revealed what car he’ll be attempting the challenge in and hailed it as ‘the ultimate track day car’.

“A Porsche 992 GT3 RS recently joined my garage,” he shared. “Gulf Orange, full Weisac pack 9,000 RPM naturally aspirated flat six engine.”

The car’s powerful engine can produce more than 500 horsepower, has a top speed of 193mph (310km/h), and can do 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 3.2 seconds.

It also generates 1,900lbs (860kg) of downforce when traveling at speeds of 177mph (285km/h).

So if any car is ready to take on the challenge of the world’s most dangerous track, it’s this one.

This is just the first step in his journey of attempting the Nurburgring Nordschleife sub-seven, and you can keep up to date with how things are going on his YouTube channel here
