These YouTubers bought an old $1,000 BMW in poor condition and traded it up for a Ferrari by repairing and upgrading multiple cars.

The folks over at ‘throtl’ bought a 2004 BMW E46 sight unseen and in very poor condition.

It ran terribly, leaked a lot of fluids, and the paint and body had seen better days.

So, how did they trade up this car for a Ferrari?

Repairing and upgrading a $1,000 BMW

The ‘throtl’ guys had built many cars, including an MK4 Supra, Honda NSX, and Nissan Skyline.

But they had yet to build a supercar.

They planned to repair and upgrade multiple cars and trade them up to a Ferrari.

We have also seen a man trade his Lamborghini Countach for a Bugatti Veyron, but it didn’t work out that well for him in the end.

Let’s hope their luck is much better.

But first, they need to repair the $1,000 2004 BMW E46.

How to trade up to a Ferrari

The first thing they did was repair the engine by replacing the intake boot and valve cover gasket, resolving coolant and oil leaks.

They also replaced the convertible top and installed a new suspension and front bumper.

Once everything was restored, they sold the $1,000 BMW for $12,000, which will fund the next trade.

So the next car they bought was a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, a legendary car from the 2000s.

This car also had troubles of its own but after some repairs and upgrades, it looked even better than before.

Fortunately, they managed to sell it for $25,000.

Luckily, it only took them two trades to get a six-speed manual 1995 Ferrari F355.

The car was in terrible condition, but they were able to restore the F355 to its former glory.
