A Tesla owner wanted to test his 10-year-old Tesla Model S, with over 110,000 miles on the clock, with a road trip to California.
Road trips can sometimes test the durability of a car, especially if the car is already well used to begin with.
Specifically, this 10-year-old Tesla Model S had already done 111,000 miles – to be exact.
But – all in all – it performed really well.

How the 10-year-old Tesla Model S coped with the California road trip
About a year ago, Henrik, the guy behind the CA Dream Drives YouTube video, decided to test a 2013 Tesla Model S with 111,000 miles on the clock.
The first thing that stood out to him, considering California can get pretty hot when you get close to the desert, is how well his Tesla performed in the heat.
He said the air conditioning worked just fine, and the heat didn’t particularly affect the range either.
During the trip, he had the chance to test it in diverse conditions – freeway, mountain, and extreme heat.
It didn’t miss a beat.
A side advantage of electric cars
Electric cars can sometimes be more reliable than equivalent gas cars.
Barring some major engineering foul-up – one of those that require a recall – EVs can be quite reliable because they’ve got fewer moving parts.
In other words, fewer bits that can go wrong.
Most people might be familiar with the story of the guy who did 2.8 million miles with his Mercedes, or the Volvo who ran for over 3.2 million miles.
Then there’s the incredible tale of the Ferrari Enzo that’s been driven for over 100,000 miles.
But the thing is, these stories are now becoming quite common with EVs as well.
There’s a guy that’s done over one million miles with his Model S, and the car looks as good as new.
Another owner who’s driven his Tesla, a Model X, for over 200,000 miles could say the same thing.
Well, they are the cars of the future, after all.
