Who would win in a drag race between a 1,200 horsepower Chevrolet Corvette C8 and a Tesla Model S Plaid?

One is a roaring, twin-turbo V8 muscle machine built for raw power.

The other is an all-electric, high-tech marvel with instant torque.

Both are insanely fast, but only one can cross the finish line first.

The modified Chevy Corvette C8 boasts 1,200 horsepower

The drag race was organized by Mat Watson from Carwow, and the two cars couldn’t be more different.

The Tesla Model S Plaid is powered by three electric motors, delivering 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque.

Despite its speed, it weighs in at 4,777lbs, partly due to the massive battery pack.

This particular Plaid isn’t stock either, as it features Koenigsegg-inspired carbon fibre aero, enhancing its already menacing looks.

Lined up next to it, the Corvette C8 takes a very different approach.

Its 6.2-litre twin-turbo V8 now produces a jaw-dropping 1,200 horsepower and 1,491Nm of torque, thanks to some serious modifications.

Unlike Tesla’s all-wheel-drive system, this monster sends all that power to just the rear wheels.

But specs aside, what about the actual race?

Well, the results aren’t pretty.

In the quarter-mile drag race, the Tesla Model S Plaid completely embarrassed the Corvette C8, completing it in only 9.6 seconds.

Keep in mind, the Tesla Model S Plaid has been known to be able to achieve a 9-second-quarter-mile, so this isn’t an anomaly.

On the other hand, the Corvette C8 clocked in at 11 seconds flat, more than one full second behind, which is an eternity in racing terms.

The Tesla Model S Plaid destroyed the challenge

But will the Chevy redeem itself in the rolling half-mile race?

Unfortunately, the Tesla Model S Plaid came out on top once again, although if it’s another consolation to Chevy fans, the margin was smaller this time.

Finally, the two cars went head-to-head in a brake test, in order to find out which car can stop in the shortest distance when both cars are traveling at 70mph.

Well, by now, you should probably be used to it: the Tesla Model S Plaid won yet again.

The results weren’t even close, and many commenters on YouTube shared their disbelief at the Corvette’s performance, claiming that the car was nowhere near 1,200 horsepower.

However, the modified Corvette C8 already performed better than this Corvette Z06, which was completely decimated by the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Despite what viewers may think, a win is a win, and it’s well earned by the speedy Tesla.

In fact, if you’re impressed by the results of this race, you can consider picking one up for yourself, given that the Tesla Model S Plaid is currently much cheaper than before.

If you still can’t believe the results of the race, you can check it out for yourself here:
