This YouTuber and his team brought a Nissan Patrol to a supercar meet in Europe, and it all went wrong.

The Patrol might look out of place here, but this is a 1,300-horsepower vehicle.

Eventually, the team got banned.

But not for the reasons you think.

This SUV didn’t even look out of place

OG Schaefchen and his team took the 1,300hp Nissan Patrol to Supercar Madness, a major annual event in the Netherlands featuring high-performance vehicles of all kinds.

We spotted Koenigseggs, Bugattis, Ferrari, Lambos, but we also saw a Honda Civic with 1,500hp.

“Today we’re sneaking something into there that doesn’t really look like it belongs there, but has more power than all the other cars,” Schaefchen said.

Even so, while the Patrol did indeed look a little unorthodox, it wasn’t completely out of place.

Partly because some of these vehicles are not actually supercars – like the Honda Civic we mentioned and a couple of small Fiats – but also because nearly all of these vehicles had clearly been heavily modified.

They weren’t kicked out because they brought a Patrol

Contrary to what some people might think, they weren’t kicked out because they brought an SUV to a supercar party; they were kicked out because of what they did with it.

As the day progressed, they participated in a parade lap and attempted hot laps, but the extreme power, rear-wheel drive configuration, and wet track conditions lead to difficulty handling the car.

Eventually, the owner ended up spinning out on the track, and both he and his team were kicked out by the organizers who cited ‘irresponsible driving’.

Not only that, they were actually banned.

No more supercar meets in Netherlands for this Patrol.

To be fair, it’s not like they didn’t see it coming.

“Whatever they tell me not to do today, I’m going to do. If they tell me to stop launching, I’m going to launch even harder,” Schaefchen said.

The reason why this Patrol isn’t a one-off

If you Google the words ‘Nissan Patrol’ and something like ‘supercar’, you’ll find several high-performance Patrol SUVs with 1,000+ horsepower.

The reason is quite simple.

The Patrol, like most Nissans, lends itself quite well to modifications including Nissan’s mythological VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 engine.

This is the engine that famously powers the Skyline, the GT-R and the Nissan Z, but it is also used for several Infiniti models, and indeed the Patrol.

And because tuners have spent the last 20+ years developing components for this engine, it is quite easy to add 500 or even 1,000 horsepower.

Kudos to Nissan for creating an engine that powers the world’s most iconic JDM car and, somehow, an everyday SUV.
