Someone found a 1933 SS Jaguar vintage car in the UK — which predates the brand itself — and can’t figure out how to proceed with its restoration.
The actual name of this vintage model would be the 1933 SS2 Coupe, which is as rare as it gets.
It might not have the British automaker’s name, but it’s still very much a Jaguar.
Only 1,800 units were produced in the 1933 model year, and a mere handful remain today.

Man found an ultra-rare 1933 SS Jaguar
Tom Wilkes from the YouTube channel Metal Shaper Tom had received a call about a 1933 SS2 Coupe in England, United Kingdom.
Since this car is so rare, he thought it was too good to be true, so he went on to check it out in person.
To his surprise, it was very much the real deal, so he took it off of the previous owner’s hands.
Finding vintage machines in random barns is actually relatively common in the UK.
Recently, a rare Chitty Chitty Bang Bang film car unearthed from a barn in Suffolk.
A few rare AC cars were also discovered in this ‘barn find of the year.’
Anyway, a recent video on Tom Wilkes’ channel explains the backstory of this absolutely rare machine.
You see, this car was made by a company called SS Cars — rumored to be called Standard Swallow.
This British automaker built sports cars in the 1930s, and this SS2 Coupe is one of them.
However, its newer models, starting from 1935, had a new name — SS Jaguar.
What will happen to the SS2 Coupe now?
Jaguar became a new brand back then, and it used some of the foundations laid by SS Cars.
This SS2 Coupe, however, predates the prancing cat brand that we know today — which is also getting a new identity for 2025, in case you’ve been living under a rock.
The YouTuber found this vintage car in a disassembled state, but that wasn’t a big deal.
The reassembly of the core chassis was easy, and it also came with many parts, including spares.
In addition, the previous owner still had the original documentation from the SS Registry itself.
Now, the YouTuber is confused about what to do with it.
Although this example had everything missing in the interior department, the core parts required for a restoration were present.
Said parts include the chassis, body kit, and the engine.
Wilkes thinks he will either restore the vintage car the restomod way – restoring it with some modern elements – or try to preserve its original state.
Whatever he does, this vintage Jaguar deserves every bit of attention it can get.
