This 1939 Ford Tudor was rescued from a junkyard and given its first taste of the road in 65 years.

The once beautiful Ford Tudor had last been driven in 1958 and had since been left to rot at the junkyard.

With so many decades off the road, the car was in a bit of a state.

But the team from IronTrap Garage was keen to take on the challenge and get the old motor back up and running.

The 1939 Ford Tudor had seen better days

With Fords being such exceptionally popular vehicles, it’s not exactly rare to find one in need of restoration – such as this ‘rust bucket’ 1959 Anglia that was converted into a race car; or this Ford GT that spent half of its life hidden away.

However, finding one as old as the 1939 Ford Tudor is a whole different story.

Which may go some way to explain why the team from IronTrap Garage was so keen to get their hands on it.

The Ford Tudor was rescued in 2019 and it’s fair to say it had seen better days.

But as expert vintage vehicle restorers, the team were able to see potential in the Ford Tudor and look past the damaged paintwork and rusting components.

They didn’t shy away from the hard work and the Tudor was given a full nuts and bolts restoration – taking the car apart and rebuilding it.

The classic car had a secret under the hood

And it turned out that the classic vehicle was hiding a bit of a secret under the hood: an old Y-block.

Unfortunately, by the time the Ford was rescued, the Y-block was full of water and completely locked, but the team replaced it with a Y-block salvaged from a 1955 Thunderbird.

With all the mechanical work done, the Ford Tudor had its first wash in who-knows-how-long, and even the interiors were spruced up.

Getting the car back on the road was a real labor of love for those involved and the restoration was finally completed in 2021.

The once-forgotten Ford Tudor was finally ready to hit the road after decades of neglect.

Isn’t it nice to see an old classic given some love?
