A man with an epic Cadillac collection says his love of cars was kicked off by admiring his neighbor’s friend’s 1960 Buick Electra 225 when he was just a kid.

Steve Plunkett, from Canada, has one of the most incredible collections of vintage Cadillacs in the world.

But it all began after he saw a classic Buick convertible parked outside his neighbor’s house when he was a young boy.

Now an adult, Plunkett has his very own 1960 Buick Electra 225 – and a lot more cars beside.

He saw the 1960 Buick Electra 225 as a kid and it was love at first sight

Appearing on Lou Costabile’s YouTube channel, Plunkett explained that he had owned the Buick Electra 225 for around 15 years and that he loved the way it looked – but that wasn’t the only reason he bought it.

“The styling is outstanding – very, very different departure from normal cars of this era,” Plunkett told Costabile.

“But also, when I was a kid my neighbor had a friend who had one of these and I remember looking down from my bedroom window and seeing it – it was a convertible – and I loved that car ever since I saw it.

“And now I have one as well.”

Cute story, right?

And it’s easy to see why the 1960 Buick Electra 225 had turned his head back then.

As Plunkett was quick to point out, the vintage vehicle looks incredible – especially when it’s finished in bright red, like this example.

Not only that, but the Electra came with a 6.6 liter Nailhead V8 that could produce up to 325 horsepower and 445lb-ft of torque – pretty impressive for a car from the 1960s.

He has an impressive Cadillac collection, plus more besides

After buying his dream car back in 2012, Plunkett spent around four years restoring it – a labor of love for the gearhead.

The Buick is just one of many cars Plunkett has stashed away in his collection.

According to The Globe and Mail, the car enthusiast has no fewer than 86 cars in his garage –  of which 52 are Cadillacs,  and the rest are various other noteworthy classics from Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, and Buicks.

“I have three Corvettes,” Plunkett told The Globe and Mail. “But as much as I like muscle cars, I love the big luxury car feel.”

And that’s certainly what you get with the 1960 Buick Electra 225, which gets the ‘225’ in its name from the number of inches it measures from bumper to bumper.
