The super rare and truly stunning 1967 Ford Thunderbird Apollo came with a bunch of cool features, including its own phone and TV.

Ford introduced the Thunderbird back in 1955 as a two-seater, before giving it a makeover and a rear seat a couple of years later.

In 1967, Ford did something pretty special with a handful of its Thunderbirds.

The carmaker took five fully-equipped 1967 Thunderbirds and set out to create five very special special editions known as the Ford Thunderbird Apollo.

The 1967 Ford Thunderbird Apollo was made for a special purpose

The 1967 Ford Thunderbird Apollo was created for US clothing brand Abercrombie and Fitch.

The brand wanted five limited-edition Thunderbirds to put on display in its stores.

According to reports, each of the Thunderbird Apollos cost $15,000, making them a whole lot more expensive than the standard version, which came with a price tag of around $5,000.

The cars were finished in custom Apollo Blue metallic paint with a light blue vinyl top, and dark blue leather interior.

External tweaks for the Apollo versions included bespoke wheel covers and cornering lights, as well as gold badges, s-bars, and grille ornament.

But it was the extra additions inside that really made the Apollo stand out among other luxury coupes.

The car was given a custom-built full-length center console that housed a radio telephone, a tiny color TV, and dual reading lamps.

The front passenger seat came with a power-adjustable headrest and footrest, while both front seats had folding trays at the back for the rear passengers.

Under the hood, four of the five Apollos had a 345 horsepower 7.0-liter V8 engine, while one was given the Thunderbird-standard 6.4-liter engine that produced 315 horsepower.

And that one-off car has recently resurfaced at Competition Cars in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The super-rare Apollo is set to go up for auction soon

Despite being almost 60 years old, the car is in all-original condition, aside from a respray back in the 1990s.

But that’s not to say it’s in perfect condition.

The dealer recently shared a walkaround video of the 1967 Ford Thunderbird Apollo and noted that several of its neat features no longer worked, including the telephone and the sunroof.

Nonetheless, the car is a real beauty and an incredibly rare find, so it’ll be interesting to see how much it fetches when it crosses the auction block soon.
