This 1967 Plymouth Satellite arrived at a Florida car show with an incredibly rare and exciting surprise.
The Satellite has a weird history — it began as a high-end offering back in 1965, only to gain the ‘mid-range’ status not long after.
As of today, not many collectors show much interest in the Satellite because a mid-ranger from the 1960s isn’t exactly popular.
But it was a different story when people saw what this example was hiding under the hood.

You would normally only spot a Satellite at its rock bottom in barn finds like this one, so this example was certainly exciting.
Random ’67 Plymouth Satellite hiding a jaw-dropping secret
The Plymouth Satellite became known in 1965 — it was based on the iconic Belvedere, and quickly became a fan favorite.
That was until the GTX showed up, becoming the premium mid-sized offering.
The GTX is still so desirable that most people, like this man who rescued one from a barn, walk away pretty happy when they get their hands on one.
Rare Satellite
This particular Satellite popped up at a car show in Florida, which YouTube channel Gause Garage showed in a video.
It looked like the perfect show car with a pristine exterior, shiny chrome, and factory-like interior.
But underneath its shiny exterior, it was hiding an extremely rare 426 cubic-inch (7.0-liter) Hemi V8 engine.
The Hemi was rare for the 1967 models
Plymouth only rolled out a handful of Hemi-powered units in 1967, and only seven were in a Satellite.
Not only is it a rare (and jaw-dropping) discovery, but it’s also what makes this one of the best Mopars out there.
The other Hemi engines went to a couple of Belevederes, while the GTX got the majority of them, as Autoevolution notes.
To put this into perspective, not many enthusiasts would look twice at a Satellite today.
Some even use it to create replicas of… let’s just say, more desirable classics like the Road Runner.
As a result, this ’67 Plymouth Satellite is one of just seven, and it’s in pretty good shape.
To top it off, the owner didn’t mess with it by adding modifications and only did a factory-correct restoration.
Such examples rarely exist, but exceptions like this need to be celebrated.
