The 1968 Pontiac GTO is a real piece of American automotive history, and one such classic car was found after 36 years.

This American muscle car was found sitting in a garage where it was parked in 1988.

The owner seemingly parked the car in his garage somewhere in Woodland Park near Colorado Springs.

It is easy to see that this car is gonna be a long project and will need a full restoration.

1968 Pontiac GTO found after 36 years

On today’s episode of rare barn finds, we have a 1968 Pontiac GTO that looks to be in quite a rough condition.

According to the owner, this classic American muscle car was parked in a garage in 1988 and only recently taken out in 2020.

The owner might have taken it out for a restoration project but soon realized it was more than he could handle.

So, the classic car has now made its way to Craigslist if anyone is looking for a restoration project.

Finding a Pontiac GTO in a barn isn’t uncommon these days, but the condition of the car matters a lot.

Looking at the photos, it is also safe to assume that the car will need body fixes, possibly undercarriage repairs, and more.

Restoration project

According to the seller, the 1968 Pontiac GTO has been with the same owner since the start.

It has all its original parts along with the original 400 cubic-inch engine.

However, don’t expect all parts to be in good condition.

As that depends on the long-term storage condition the car was in.

If the garage was well suited for classic car storage and kept it away from the elements, there’s a good chance the undercarriage might not have that much damage.

So if are up for a little bit of risk, this rustic 1968 Pontiac GTO might be your next ride.
