Finding a rare car in a barn find doesn’t happen as often as it used to, at least according to this man who found an extremely scarce 1969 Chevy L88 Corvette.

Why is it rare, you ask?

Well, Chevy only sent out 116 of these, but only 17 models featured a full-fledged automatic transmission.

This C3 Corvette is one of them.

1-of-17 1969 L88 Corvette finds a new owner

It’s certainly the truth that history has seen a great deal of Corvette models, and the modern collector who isn’t familiar with those might easily get confused,

But if you ever meet someone who knows their Chevys, you’ll know how rare this machine is today.

Collectors with iconic classic car collections would jump at the chance of getting one, so it’s definitely up there.

A YouTube channel that goes by Horsepower Depot posted a video about this barn find, and it’s had an exciting life, to say the least.

The video showed the previous owner sharing the story of how he got it when he was 18.

Back then, the previous owner simply wanted something with a tri-motor that had at least 435 horsepower.

He eventually managed to get the rare Corvette and used it for several years.

However, the L88 Corvette had a blue paint job, which he wanted to change.

The previous owner couldn’t get around to it, and it has been sitting in a garage ever since.

Will it hit the road again?

We’re sure the previous owner had a great time with this rare-spec L88 Corvette because Chevy built it for racing.

This C3 Corvette boasted a 7.0-liter L88 engine that sent out more than 400hp.

For something built during the late 60s, this was nothing short of a remarkable machine.

Although it hasn’t seen the roads in over four decades, time wasn’t too harsh with this one.

The YouTuber is the car’s new owner and was asked to restore it to its former glory.

He even got all the original documentation that came with the car.

It’s been almost a year since he got it, so we hope the YouTuber gets around to working on it so it can shine once again.

That is, if he hasn’t already.
