A classic 1970 Ford F-250 recently sold at auction for $120,000, making it more than twice as expensive as 2025 models, but some folks reckon the buyer got a bargain.

The Blue Oval launched its F-Series range of trucks back in 1948.

The most popular of the bunch is the F-150, which was America’s best-selling vehicle for several years running.

Whereas its F-250 sibling is offered as a more heavy-duty model

The Ford F-250 looked mint when it was sold, but that wasn’t always the case

Any car lover will tell you that a well-done restoration on a classic vehicle is worth its weight in gold.

Just take a look at this Mustang Mach 1 that was revived following a fire, or the gorgeous 1965 Buick Riviera, which was given a two-year-long overhaul.

More recently, someone spent three years completing a total body-off restoration on this 1970 Ford F-250 and had their hard work rewarded when it came to selling it.

The truck was looking worse for wear after spending years carrying out pipeline work in Alaska, but someone managed to see beyond its shabby exterior to the beauty that was hiding underneath.

Photos shared alongside the Bring a Trailer listing revealed the state of the truck before its restoration, with a missing front bumper and patchy, corroded paint work across its panels.

But after three years, the truck had been restored to its former glory and given a replacement factory-spec 360-cubic-inch V8 engine, a fresh coat of Sky View Blue, a new grille and gleaming chrome bumper, as well as a completely refreshed blue vinyl interior.

The Ford F-250 had been given a set of 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in Samson Traker Plus bias-ply tires.

The truck also stands a bit taller than it originally did, thanks to a 2-inch Skyjacker suspension lift.

The slick restoration left the 1970 Ford F-250 looking factory fresh, and it recently sold for an impressive $120,000.

For some context, that puts the truck at a higher price point than the Porsche 718 Boxster and more than double the price of a 2025 Ford M-250, which comes with a starting price tag of around $45,600.

People have been left blown away by the restoration

Over on the listing, car enthusiasts were left seriously impressed by the quality of the restoration work, with one person even saying that it looked better than new.

“Stunning is an understatement. You’d be hard-pressed to find something wrong with this,” another said.

“Very nicely done. The attention to detail and thoughtful execution come through clearly on this one,” someone else wrote.

While others said the new buyer had managed to land themselves a bargain.

“The buyer got one heck of a deal on this one,” a third commenter added.

And someone else was quick to agree that it was ‘good deal for sure’.

Here’s hoping the truck has many years ahead of it now its winging its way to its new owner.
