This guy turned his 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD into something out of Aladdin by covering the interior in Persian rugs.
The cabin is absolutely spotless, with 1980s written all over it, but it’s the carpet treatment that makes it look so unique and special.
Nearly every panel in the cabin is covered in Persian rugs.
And wait until you hear the best part.

Mikael Kennedy, a self-described rug dealer – he’s King Kennedy Rugs on Instagram – turned his 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD, a distant relative of the modern S-Class and also the CL coupe, into a drivable Persian carpet.
If the folk tales associated with Aladdin and One Thousand and One Nights were written today, they’d probably include this Mercedes.

Jokes aside, the interior looks amazing, and the Persian rugs make this already vintage-looking Mercedes look and feel even more iconic.
Kennedy upholstered the whole cabin with pieces of vintage Farahan rug.

With few exceptions like the seats, the steering wheel, and the part of the center console where the gearbox is, nearly everything is covered in rugs.
The floorboards, the trunk, and rear deck, and even the subwoofer.
The same treatment was reserved for the lower part of the center console and, of course, the carpets.
Everything is upholstered in beautiful Persian textile.

The best part is this isn’t a museum piece.
It is a drivable car with an engine that works.

Even though it’s actually not related to the similarly named 300SL, the 300SD is the sort of car collectors love, which makes this car quite valuable.
But, amazingly, Kennedy apparently drives this vehicle quite regularly.
In a world where people buy cars just to park them in sealed garages, we’re certainly glad to hear that.
