This one-owner 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport has gone off to a new home after almost 30 years and 45,000 miles on the clock.

The Jeep Cherokee was originally introduced in 1974 and had a decades-long production run that finally wrapped up in 2023.

The car was available in a bunch of models, including the Chief, Golden Eagle, Pioneer, and Sport.

This 1998 example is a Sport and, according to the seller, it had mostly been used for vacations, which explains its low mileage.

The 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport is in great condition

It’s always nice to see an older car get a second chance, like the couple who took a risk on this 1975 BMW 2002 from Facebook Marketplace and spent months returning it to its former glory, or this classic Ferrari that was given the restoration it deserved.

More recently, this 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport was on the hunt for a new owner.

The Jeep had been bought new and had remained in the same family for the last 27 years.

The grandson of the original owners placed a listing online and revealed that it had mostly been used during vacations.

Finished in a Gunmetal Pearl Coat with a Mist Gray cloth interior, the Jeep Cherokee Sport is in good shape, aside from the odd imperfection you’d expect from a vehicle that’s almost 30 years old.

The Jeep also comes with a black grille, bumper covers, wheel arch flares, a roof rack, five-spoke wheel wrapped in BFGoodrich Long Trail tires.

The interior of the Cherokee is also in good condition, and features front bucket seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a rear bench seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 4.0-liter inline-six, which had a 190 horsepower rating when new. The listing also revealed that the vehicle had an oil change about six months ago.

The Jeep has clearly been well looked after by its previous owners, and as it’s only done 45,000 miles in almost three decades, it’s prime for a second chance.

And now it’s set to get one, as the 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport was snapped up for $16,000.

The Cherokee is set to make a return soon

Jeep officially retired the Cherokee nameplate back in 2023

However, after a two-year hiatus, the marque announced that it would be making a return.

The updated Cherokee was unveiled back in August, and deliveries are scheduled to start later this year.
