Ever wondered what are the most expensive cars in the world?
Not so long ago it was pretty much unheard of for a car to cost $1 million – but in recent years the price of some high-end motors has soared.
Luxury marques including Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, Pagani and Koenigsegg have all released cars costing several million dollars.
The increase in beefier, flashier, and more expensive cars appears to be a trend that’s here to stay.
So, let’s pretend that money is no object and check out the most expensive cars you can get your hands on in 2024.

5. Rolls-Royce Sweptail –$12.8 million
The Rolls-Royce Sweptail was the first from the carmaker’s Coachbuild division – paving the way for even more jaw-droppingly expensive cars down the line.
Each and every Coachbuild car is built upon an ‘extraordinary design collaboration between patron and artisan’, according to Rolls-Royce.
In the case of the Sweptail this results in a stunning and classically designed car, with sleek tapered lines, an elegantly falling waist-rail, and its namesake swept tail.
A super-sized glass roof shows off an interior every bit as beautiful as the exterior featuring polished Macassar ebony and open-pore Paldao, paired with light Moccasin and Dark Spice leathers.
t has a 6.6 V-12 engine producing 453 horsepower.
This allows it to reach 0-97km/h (0-60mph) in a mere 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 249km/h (155mph).
4. Bugatti La Voiture Noire – $16 million
The one-off Bugatti La Voiture Noire hypercar was designed as a tribute to Jean Bugatti’s Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic that vanished during World War II never to be seen again.
Unveiled in 2019, the striking Bugatti La Voiture Noire was the world’s most expensive car at the time.
Splashing out one of the most expensive cars in the world, got the lucky buyer an awful lot of power for his money – the La Voiture Noire, which translates as ‘the black car’, has a16-cylinder 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged engine under the hood, which produces 1,500 horsepower and 1,180lb-ft of torque.
It can go from 0 to 97km/h (0 to 60mph) in just 2.4 seconds with a top speed of 420km/h (261mph).
3. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta – $18.5 million
In third place, we’ve got another car that was designed as a tribute – the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta.
This time, the car was built to honor the iconic Pagani Zonda and was made for Horacio Pagani himself.
The mean-looking vehicle is powered by a 12-cylinder AMG engine that delivers 760HP and 811lb-ft of torque.
And if the stunning design of the car isn’t enough to turn heads on the street, then the noise that 12-cylinder makes while in use sure will.
2. Rolls-Royce Boat Tail – $28 million
Another car straight from Rolls-Royce Coachbuild program – this time the downright beautiful Rolls-Royce Boat Tail.
One of the most expensive cars on the market and with only three ever made – the Boat Tail is a special bit of kit.
Each model took nearly four years to build, inspired by the luxury yachts of the early 20th century.
The car has a unique ‘butterfly-design’ hosting suite that opens up to reveal a lavish picnic set, complete with high-end cutlery and dinnerware.
Of course, the car isn’t just gorgeous, it’s also powerful with a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that unleashes 563 horsepower and 627lb-ft of torque.
1. Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail – $32 million
Claiming the top spot for most expensive car is the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail – another vehicle from the Coachbuild division.
As well as being the most expensive car, the bespoke Droptail has to be one of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen.
The car actually changes color depending on how it’s viewed and come with a removable hard top with an electrochromic glass section which, at the touch of a button, instantly switches from dark to a near-translucent shade – how cool is that?
It is fitted with a classic 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12, but Rolls-Royce added an extra 30HP – putting the output at 620HP.
