This is the new all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV, which means what you’re looking at here is also Mercedes’ flagship model.
It’s a four-door sedan, but it’s also a coupe, and it drives like a hypercar.
Mercedes also gave it a fake V8 sound.
But the news regarding its price is pretty good.
The electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe started out as a hardcore coupe
If Martians landed on Earth tomorrow, you’d have a hard time explaining to them that this vehicle here is the grandchild of the Mercedes SLS.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was unveiled in 2009 as the spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and this essentially the brand’s first supercar in a long time.

In 2014, the SLS was replaced by the AMG GT, which was less powerful, less crazy, and less expensive.
A few years later, Mercedes realized there was room in the market for a four-door sedan variant, and so it unveiled the 4-Door Coupe variant.

The two-door coupe is still available, so technically this isn’t a replacement.
But ultimately, demand will determine whether the two-door variant will still be sold alongside the new 4-Door Coupe EV.

There are only two variants for this EV for now
For now, there are two available powertrain options.
The GT 63 4Matic+ model comes with 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque.

According to the German manufacturer, that translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.0 seconds and a 0-124 mph time of 6.4 seconds.
The top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph.
There’s also the less powerful version, the Mercedes-AMG GT 55, which comes to 805 hp and 1,328 lb-ft of torque.

Also, there are three things we should point out.
First, the company gave the motor a ‘fake’ V8 sound.
So far, the market has proven that buyers don’t really like fake exhaust sounds but we’ll see.
The second and third things are related: this is the first Mercedes built on the new AMG.EA electric vehicle architecture.

Thanks to its 600+ kW fast-charging abilities, it should take around 11 minutes to get from 10 to 80 percent of charge.
The automaker expects the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV to travel up to 430 miles on a charge on the European WLTP test cycle, which suggests an EPA-rated range of between 315 and 365 miles.
Pricing is TBC, but the manufacturer said it should start at the same price point as the GT Coupe, in which case, we’re looking at an MSRP of around $150,000+.
