A 3D simulation from Red Side on YouTube showing the speed comparison from the first man-made aircraft to the fastest ever is captivating.

The first truly successful airplane was the Wright Flyer, built by the Wright Brothers, which flew at 30mph.

Even just ten years later, aircraft speeds had increased. By World War II, planes like the Boeing B-29 Superfortress could fly at 357mph.

That, however, is nothing compared to modern planes, with the fastest being the rocket-powered North American X-15. This can fly at an incredible Mach 6.7, or 4,520mph!
