You might be surprised by how many ‘cheap’ boats, even a speedboat, you can find on Facebook Marketplace.
Of course, most of these won’t be anywhere near mint condition, but that doesn’t mean they’re absolute junk, either.
One group of guys from Oregon managed to buy a speedboat for just $250 on the platform.
And they were pleasantly surprised when they took it to the nearest lake to test it out.

Friends buy a $250 speedboat from Facebook Marketplace
The host from the YouTube channel 541 fishermen posted a video about a $250 speedboat his friend bought from Facebook Marketplace in Oregon.
These guys were already surprised by how sweet of a deal they got — but were even more stoked when they tested it out.
All they were told by the previous owner was that it had some ‘electrical problems’ and came without a battery.
Before testing it out, the duo gave the speedboat a powerwash to avoid anything unwanted stuck to it from infecting the lake.
Even before it was in the water, the vessel looked to be in fairly great shape from the outside.
There are hundreds of abandoned boats in fairly decent condition — it’s just about spotting them in amongst the rest.
Only recently, someone hunting for a free abandoned boat ended up with a free full-sized yacht.
They also got a shock when they tried to start it.
The moment of truth
When they got to the lake, they carefully unloaded it from the trailer to test it.
And voila — the boat floated — which might not sound like the most incredible thing because boats usually float.
But when your $250 boat floats, it’s certainly something worth celebrating — which these guys did.
And better yet, it came with a battery, which its previous owner said wasn’t there.
After a careful inspection of the cabin and cockpit area, they did find some things that needed fixing, but it wasn’t anything major.
Barring the electric issues, these guys were optimistic about converting the vessel into a proper fishing boat.
For context, the host of the YouTube channel is a professional fisherman, so this was an absolute win.
Building a floating vessel, as this couple did in their backyard, is one thing — but getting one for cheap is way more convenient.
