This man was left stunned when he discovered that his 86-year-old Uber driver was a businessman with a $111,000,000 turnover.

Nav Shah, an Australian entrepreneur, was taking a ride in an Uber when he struck up a conversation with his driver.

It’s something all of us have done at one point or another, as we usually find out something interesting about the person we share a car with.

But in Shah’s case, his driver had a multi-million dollar secret – and a really heartwarming story.

What this Australian entrepreneur discovered about his Uber driver

When Shah got into his ride with an 86-year-old driver, he probably had no idea that he was being driven around by a millionaire.

That’s right – this driver owned businesses with a turnover of $111 million.

So that begs the question – why was he driving for Uber?

Well, he had a really nice intention for his ‘side hustle’.

With each rider he took on, he would send the money to educate girls in India.

Although things have improved in recent years, girls in India still face challenges with school enrolment due to infrastructure issues, socio-economic barriers, and government policy gaps, CRY [Child Rights and You] India reported.

“Every trip helps another girl get to school,” he told Shah.

Shah wrote in the caption for his video:

“He reminded me: True success isn’t about how high you climb, it’s about how many people you lift along the way.

“Keep building. Keep giving. Stay humble.”

The things you’ll learn while sitting in the backseat

In 2024, Uber completed 11.27 billion trips around the world.

Whether or not the passengers gave their drivers a high rating, they’ll have learnt something on their journey.

And some drivers are going above and beyond in their line of work.

One driver has built a game to teach his passengers about him in a genius move that is guaranteed to keep riders entertained.

Over in the UK, one driver gave some insight into how much he earned in a week.

Uber rides have become an almost quintessential part of living in the big city.

But they could be set to change soon, as self-driving cars are being tested in more and more locations.

It’d be quite difficult to get an inspiring conversation in a Robotaxi, but we wouldn’t put it past Uber to try.
