The fastest cars in the world are a diverse line-up, from a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ to a Koenigsegg Agera RS.
From aerodynamic wizardry to mind-bending horsepower, these cars push the limits of what’s possible on four wheels.
Whether they’ve set official records or made jaw-dropping claims, each one earns its spot for rewriting the rules of velocity.
So strap yourselves in and hold onto your seats – here are nine of the fastest cars in the world right now.

1. Fastest cars in the world: Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ – 304.773mph
When Bugatti broke the magical 300mph barrier in 2019, the world took notice.

Piloted by Le Mans winner Andy Wallace, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ hit a verified 304.773mph, cementing its place as the official road-legal top-speed king.
2. SSC Tuatara – 316mph (claimed)
This American hypercar from Shelby SuperCars claimed an eye-watering 316mph run – though not without controversy.
In October 2020, the Tuatara reportedly had a one-way speed of 331mph and a two-way average of 316mph.

However, SSC’s founder, Jerrod Shelby, said that too many doubts had arisen around the recorded speeds.
Therefore, a re-run at top speed was necessary.
Even with debate over the numbers, there’s no denying the Tuatara’s insane aerodynamic profile and 1,750hp V8 make it a serious contender.
3. Koenigsegg Agera RS – 277.87mph
The Swedish speed demon still holds an official two-way average top-speed record set on a closed Nevada highway.
With its 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and featherweight build, the Agera RS blends precision engineering with ferocious speed.

The name comes from the Swedish verb ‘agera’, which means ‘to take action’.
And with speeds like 277mph, there’s certainly a lot of that going on.
4. Hennessey Venom GT – approx 270mph
Part Lotus, part Texas-built monster, the Venom GT stunned the world with a near-270mph sprint at Kennedy Space Center.

It’s a pure, stripped-back speed machine with no compromises.
5. Fastest cars in the world: Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – 268mph
Before the Chiron, the Veyron Super Sport was Bugatti’s golden child – an engineering marvel with an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16.

It held the Guinness World Record for fastest production car for years.
6. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut – approx 310mph (claimed)
Named after company founder Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, the Jesko Absolut is designed to be the brand’s fastest car ever.

Its slippery bodywork and 1,600hp engine are tuned for one thing: maximum velocity.
7. Hennessey Venom F5 – 300+mph (target)
With 1,817hp from a twin-turbo V8, the Venom F5 was born to crush 300mph.

Available as a coupe, roadster, or even a 2,031 hp ‘Evolution’ variant, it’s one of the boldest statements in American hypercar history.
8. Rimac Nevera – 258-289mph (EV)
The Croatian all-electric hypercar redefines what EVs can do.

It not only reached 258mph but smashed acceleration-and-braking records with a staggering 0–249–0mph in just over 29 seconds, and a newer Nevera R version topping 289mph.
9. Fastest cars in the world: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (2025) – 233mph
Proving you don’t need a seven-figure price tag to join the conversation, the latest ZR1 is America’s fastest production car.

With its supercharged V8 and wind-tunnel-tuned body, it’s a slice of everyday-drivable speed glory.
