After being surprised by his dad’s Chevrolet truck being secretly cleaned up, this 90-year-old veteran couldn’t hold back the tears as he unloaded stories about its past.
Parked for 39 years, this truck was more than just a car for this family.
It was a representation of the relationship between this veteran and his dad, who passed the Chevy down.
As life ran away from this Naval Engineer, he neglected the old vehicle. But WD Detailing, expert restoration gurus in Cleveland, were contacted to bring it back to life and reunite it with an emotional owner.

This Chevrolet truck was a stunning representation of a past life
WD Detailing is no stranger to surprising owners with restored cars.
Having seen people overwhelmed with emotion after cleaning up 40-year-old cars in Ohio, they were recently brought close to tears themselves after receiving a heartwarming letter of appreciation.
But in their latest story, they were contacted by the family of a Korean War Navy veteran who later went on to work at Rockwell International.
The family wanted to honor the man by restoring his dad’s Chevrolet Truck, which had been sitting in the garage for 39 years without moving.
WD Detailing was greeted by the nephew and wife of the man, who explained that this was to be a surprise.
Upon inspection, the car was a hidden gem, with a matte teal paint job that appeared to be quite rare.

But, as you can expect from 40 years of neglect, it was buried underneath sheets of dust and bird droppings.
Under the hood of the Custom 10 Chevrolet truck was a classic Chevy 350 engine that didn’t appear to be in too bad a condition, although one cylinder showed signs that it would need restoring.
But the bodywork, aside from some rust spots around the mirrors. was salvageable.
So, the team got to work by polishing up the matte paintwork and gutting the interior, until it looked almost brand-new.

Meeting the veteran for the first time, WD Detailing revealed that they had been cleaning the car without his knowledge and his family had arranged the entire ordeal.
All that was left was to show him.
And as they rolled the garage door back, much like many other reactions they get, the final product brought the man to tears.
“Wow,” he repeated, stunned for words.
“Brings back memories. It does. It does indeed,” he said.
The man revealed how the car had done some serious traveling, being close to covering all 48 mainland states, if not them all.

Now, still fit as a fiddle, the man can enjoy the comfort of his old car with his dad’s memory riding shotgun.
