A stunning 1967 Chevy Corvette recently sold for a price so high that it is now worth more than a Bugatti Chiron supercar.

The Corvette will always be an automotive legend, and there are plenty of special examples of the sports car that are worth a staggering amount of money.

In 2014, Barrett-Jackson got its hands on a very rare and very special 1967 Corvette with the desirable L88 V8 engine under the hood.

While the auction house knew it had a gem on its hands, they perhaps didn’t know it would sell for more than a modern Bugatti supercar.

What makes this 1967 Chevy Corvette special?

Corvettes like this example are some of the rarest ever made.

Under the hood sits a 427ci L88 V8 engine, but that wasn’t the only thing that made this sports car special.

According to the listing, this car used to be a drag racer before being restored to Concours condition.

The restoration even included reinstating the original tank sticker.

Add in the correct red interior and red paintwork, and you instantly have a winner.

As part of the C2 generation of the Corvette, there is an instant added popularity to the model.

It was put up for sale in January 2014.

However, its owner probably didn’t expect it to sell for as much money as it did.

How much the Chevrolet sold for

When it was sold in January 2024 at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, the Corvette went for $3.85 million.

To put that into context, a Bugatti Chiron base model would have set you back $3.3 million.

This comparison shows us just how rare and desirable the 1967 Corvette actually is.

Few classic cars could ever dream of matching the price of a modern-day supercar.

Since then, this Corvette has had an interesting existence.

It was sold privately, not long after that initial auction.

It then showed up at Mecum Kissimee in 2024 and sold for $3.2 million.

Having failed to sell at Mecum Fort Worth 2025, it is set to go under the hammer at Mecum Kissimmee 2026.

Who knows just how much the car will sell for in the new year?
