A C5 Corvette found abandoned and covered in dirt, dust, and mold had its first wash in more than a decade.

There are a few things more satisfying than watching a long-forgotten car given a spruce up and returned to its former glory.

That’s pretty much what happened here.

The C5 Corvette was in a sorry state when it was found

The black C5 was found abandoned, surrounded by growing leaves and foliage, covered in dirt and debris – and that was just the outside.

After opening the door, the team from WD Detailing – the guys who previously found and restored a 1982 Corvette with just 33 miles on the clock and this Mazda RX-7 that spent two decades in a barn – discovered mold.

A lot of mold.

So much so that the team said it was probably the ‘moldiest interior’ they’d ever come across.

Bringing the car into their shop, the team acknowledged they had a big job on their hands.

Things went from bad to worse when they opened the door and found dozens of ants and their larvae inside.

That’s definitely not what you want.

After they chucked in a bug bomb to take care of the infestation, the team set about cleaning up the outside.

The clean-up was a big job

WD Detailing grabbed an industrial vacuum cleaner to suck up all the debris before giving the whole car a once-over with a jet wash.

The C5 was then given a spray with soap, while the team diligently got into every nook and cranny with brushes and cleaning clothes.

They finished the exterior clean-up with full paint decontamination using iron remover and a clay pad on the buffer.

What a difference it made – the neglected C5 could be seen sparkling and, outwardly, almost looked brand-new again.

Next, the 5.7-liter V8 engine was given the same treatment and was blasted with the jet washer before it was thoroughly dried off.

The interiors were given a vacuum before being tackled with plenty of cleaning agents and a steam cleaner to kill off all the mold spores.

The amount of time and attention to detail these guys put in is unbelievable but the results speak for themselves.

Although there’s the odd bit of wear and tear, you’d never guess that the vehicle had spent 12 years abandoned in a field.

Nice work, guys!
