After 40 years, this 1958 Corvette finally found its way home.
It is an incredibly emotional story of a family reunion.
At the heart of the story lies a 1958 Corvette.
And it has finally been reunited with its family – after 40 years in a Connecticut garage.

1958 Corvette is more than a car to this family
Everyone who is a car fan understands just how much four-wheeled machines can mean to people.
But this story blends a love of cars with a deeply intertwining family tale.
In one such story, a man embarked on a 3,000-mile journey by air and road to recover his family’s long-lost 1958 Chevrolet Corvette.
At the heart of the story is a C1 1958 Corvette.
But it is a Corvette that has been sitting dormant in a Connecticut garage for 40 years.

At one point, though, the car in question was part of the family’s history and identity.
An old photograph shows the rescuer’s older brother driving the car.
This was before time and circumstances parted the pair.
When family medical expenses began to mount, the car offered not just sentimental value, but also a potential financial lifeline.
Rescuer decides to fly it then drive it back to California
Okay, so the rescuer, from Doyle’s Garage Classics on YouTube, decided to rescue the car.
But how was he actually going to get the 1958 Corvette back?
Most people would simply hire a transportation company to make the arduous 3,000-mile trip.
Rather than hiring a shipping company, however, the brother flew from California to Connecticut armed with tools, a winch, and a whole lot of grit and determination.
The plan (in theory) was simple – extract the Corvette from the Connecticut garage and get it back home to Southern California.
All within the space of five days; no pressure, then.
The team rescuing the car thankfully documented the entire process.
Part two of the series saw the 1958 Corvette creak and groan back into the daylight.

Bear in mind that this car hasn’t seen daylight since Ronald Reagan was President.
By the third video, the rescuer is making the 3,000-mile trip back home to California.
The condition of the car itself remains uncertain.
Its interior has been gutted, and the engine status is completely unknown.
But, in a way, this story transcends simply being another barn find.
It is a story of a family member returning home in a real full-circle moment.
