The DeLorean DMC-12 remains one of the most iconic film cars in the world, but now this Back to the Future icon has been abandoned on a back road in West Virginia.

That’s right, a random DMC-12 was sitting by a residential street in Mozart, West Virginia.

Although it wasn’t actually a film car, it was very much a DMC-12.

To make things interesting, someone on Reddit made this ‘discovery’ on Google Maps.

Abandoned DeLorean DMC-12 found on Google Maps

Cars left to rot are far too common for anyone to give a second look, but when it’s something like a DeLorean, the circumstances certainly shift.

Spotted by a Reddit user on the r/whatisthiscar subreddit, it was parked off the side of the road in the Fishers Lane area of Mozart, West Virginia.

And if you check Google Maps, specifically Street View, you can see the image yourself.

The image was captured in November 2021 and hasn’t been updated since.

Assuming it’s still there, the DeLorean DMC-12 has now been there for three years.

The DeLorean was in pretty bad shape

Although nobody knows how long it was there before the image was taken, it certainly makes you wonder.

By the way, the DMC-12 can be an excellent project car, and you can even put a Ferrari engine in it like these guys did.

Anyway, further inspection of the Google Maps image shows that time was harsh on this classic.

A bunch of fallen leaves and dust now occupy its interior, thanks to the tree it was left abandoned under.

It’s a shame to see a DeLorean in such a bad condition, and sadly, it’s not the only one.

These guys found a DMC-12 with just 977 miles clocked, which was off the road for 18 years.

And there was this other DMC-12 hidden in a barn with less than 1,000 miles on the odometer.

Case in point — a lot of examples of this car have been left abandoned.
