While exploring an abandoned property, this man came across a rare car worth more than $1 million hiding inside a barn.

Colin Smith, known online as The Bearded Explorer, has seen his fair share of deserted mansions and buildings.

And along the way, he’s come across a solid amount of cars that have been left to thee sands of time.

But this time around, there was something exceptional about the rare car he found – its price.

Who is the Bearded Explorer?

The Bearded Explorer is constantly visiting locations that have been long forgotten.

And more often than not, these places – be they houses or hotels – have cars collecting dust inside.

He’s come across an abandoned Ferrari F1 car on a farm and a Jaguar E-Type in a barn, just to single out two examples.

And yet, even after all these years, he can still find things that take him by surprise.

What did this YouTuber find while exploring an abandoned property?

In a recent video, Smith and a friend paid a visit to a derelict barn, working on a tip that was a one-of-a-kind car was sitting inside.

The barn itself was in a pitiful state, as it was caved in one side.

The first car they spotted looked to be a Reliant Robin, which wasn’t much to write home about – not least of all because it was blocked off partly by fallen guttering.

Around the grounds they found another Reliant Robin under cover, alongside a rusty BMW 323.

“[The BMW] has been here for a long, long time,” Smith noted.

“Unfortunately, it’s probably past the point of saving.”

Heading inside the barn, they noted how untouched it was.

“The cobwebs in this place are quite impressive… it’s just proof that nobody has touched anything in here for such a long, long, long time,” the Youtuber noted.

The first car they came across inside was an early Jaguar, possibly from the 1920s – he guessed an XK120.

Dotted around the abandoned barn was three spare Jaguar engines, tires, scattered parts, and a vintage bike.

But that wasn’t the main attraction here.

Uncovering the rare car worth than $1 million

Exploring the abandoned property further, the pair came across a Bentley.

“As far as Bentley barn finds go, this is probably one of the best ones I’ve ever found and potentially one of the best ever found,” Smith said.

Some rust on the rear right fender aside, this car was in pretty good shape.

Its smell had an allure than any petrol head would appreciate: “It’s the smell of oil, grease, old machinery which hasn’t been used in a long time.”

So what was so special about this particular Bentley?

This was a 1928 Bentley 4 1/2 liter, last issued with a V5 back in 2012.

A total of 720 of these were produced between 1927 and 1931, with one even winning the 1928 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Restored versions of this car could fetch more than $1 million if put up for auction.

To find a 98-year-old car in this way is nothing short of remarkable.

It was definitely worth the trip, that’s for sure.
