Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Mansour owns a superyacht fleet worth around $1.5 billion.
In addition to the Flying Fox yacht, the Sheikh also owns Blue, and a superyacht named ‘A+’.
Combined, these three yachts are worth around $1.5 billion.
But it’s the maintenance cost that’s truly mind-blowing.

This superyacht fleet costs a fortune to run
Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Mansour, who also owns Manchester City by the way, owns at least three yachts.
For starters, he owns Flying Fox, a 446-foot (135 meters) yacht that Jay-Z and Beyonce used to charter every summer.
In addition to Flying Fox, he also owns Blue, a 524-foot (160 meters) yacht worth around $600 million.
Last but certainly not least, he owns A+, previously named Topaz (pictured below), a 482-foot (147 meters) superyacht worth $450 million.

All three were built by Lürssen, the same shipyard that also built the Emir of Qatar’s yacht and the $450 million superyacht owned by Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Sheikh Mansour spends at least $400,000 a day just keep the yachts afloat and in good shape.
That’s the equivalent of a brand-new Lambo every day.

Why superyachts cost so much to run
The old adage ‘if you can’t afford maintenance, you can’t afford it’ applies to supercars and private jets, and it definitely applies to yachts.
Yachts of this caliber burn through 400+ liters of fuel per hour, which means sailing from Abu Dhabi to Monaco would cost around $150,000 in fuel alone.
Then you’ve got maintenance, and you’ve got to pay the crew.

Working on a superyacht can be quite lucrative.
A captain that’s qualified to command Flying Fox will cost you around $25,000 per month, and then you’ve got around 50 more people between deck crew and interior.
All in all, you’re looking at around $50,000-$70,000 per trip.
Then again Sheikh Mansour is worth $20 billion, and his family is worth $300 billion, so he can afford it.
