Every passenger airplane has safety measures in place to evacuate everyone inside in case something goes wrong, but every passenger plane isn’t as huge as the Airbus A380.
Most airplanes have evacuation slides that inflate when required in a matter of seconds.
However, the Airbus A380, because of its sheer size, had to find a new way to achieve that goal.

This video shows the evacuation slide system on the A380, and it looks incredible.
You get to see several slides inflating and deploying, ready to save everyone in seconds.
There are 16 slides in total installed on the jumbo jet, with eight on the upper deck and the rest on the lower deck.
It’s not the first time we have seen the A380 doing bizarre things, but this one is undoubtedly a sight to behold.
The A380 can carry 853 passengers, and it’s important that there is a safety measure to evacuate them as soon as possible in case of an emergency.
Well, 90 seconds, to be precise.
Most airplanes can easily achieve that time because they are relatively smaller and carry only about half the passengers.
Moreover, the Airbus A380 is the world’s largest passenger plane, and it is that way for a reason.
For context, sitting inside an A380 puts you approximately three stories above ground.
So, what did Airbus do to deploy the 75-foot evacuation slides in under six seconds?
It added a special element to the standard method of deploying the evacuation slide systems.
Usually, most airplanes make use of a combustion system with funnels for these slides.
The aircraft manufacturer used a rocket-powered disperser along with more funnels.
Sounds wild, right?
As unusual as it may be, it was a viable solution.
The exhaust from the rocket quickly funnels inside the slide to make the inflating process quicker.
And the result is quite amusing, to say the least.

It’s also important for the world’s largest passenger plane to set standards, or it will lose its significance.
