Alpine has officially confirmed plans for a halo supercar, as well as extreme editions of its electric lineup.

And it appears to have some big names in its crosshairs.

Brand CEO Philippe Krief is reportedly the force behind the ambitious moves.

And it could lead to more extreme versions of the current range.

Alpine enjoying strong brand success…

Alpine is a brand that finds itself doing quite well.

Despite not being available in the US, the marque has quite a following in Europe and beyond.

This loyal following comes despite a somewhat limited line-up of offerings.

It currently builds the A110, the A290, and the A390.

What is interesting about Alpine is that its range has pretty specific targets in mind.

The (iconic) A110 tends to directly compete with the Porsche Cayman in that market.

Conversely, the A290 serves as an electric hot hatch based on the Renault 5 e-Tech, whilst the A390 serves as a performance EV crossover.

…But the CEO has higher ambitions

Despite its success, the leadership of the marque clearly has higher ambitions.

And it is CEO Philippe Krief who wants to take the brand to the next level.

But what is interesting about all of this is that it is far from just talk.

In fact, the brand is currently in the process of shifting into a pure EV performance brand.

And that goal is set to be achieved with the development of the APP platform.

The Alpine Performance Platform is set to be a vital part of the A110’s electric successor.

Brand CEO Krief’s ambition, according to an interview with Auto Express, is to ‘use the APP platforms to do extreme things’.

What makes these ambitions so intriguing is the background of Krief himself.

For those who are unaware, Philippe Krief used to be the director of engineering at Ferrari.

It was he who led the development of the SF90 Stradale project in Maranello.

So a future goal of developing extreme versions of existing cars is far from out of the question.

Perhaps the aim of an Alpine halo supercar is not outside the realms of possibility either.
