When this Florida man tried to pass the UK driving test with no lessons or knowledge of the road rules, let’s just say the results were… educational.
He’s driven across America, survived Gulf Coast traffic, and watched hours of YouTube tutorials
Khemaran, a US driver with 12 years behind the wheel, took a UK-style mock test with a YouTube instructor and found out just how different British road rules really are.
And you can probably guess how it went.

He thought YouTube would be enough to pass a UK driving test
Khemaran turned up for his mock UK driving test with no lessons, just confidence and a few videos under his belt.
This wasn’t even his first go. He’d already failed a real test for using the wrong lane at a roundabout. Still, he thought he had it this time.
Spoiler: he didn’t.
By the end of the 40-minute test, he racked up six serious faults and 11 minors – a clear fail in UK standards.

He missed vital checks at junctions, signaled incorrectly at roundabouts, and took blind corners way too fast. At one point, he almost turned onto a no-entry road before being stopped by the instructor.
Even his emergency stop – a basic part of the test – wasn’t sharp enough to count.
His biggest issue? Mindset.
According to the examiner, Khemaran drove with a ‘go-until-I-know-I-have-to-stop’ attitude, instead of waiting to move only when it was clearly safe.
Despite the result, he took the feedback well, and gave viewers a perfect example of what not to do.

Why the UK road rules trip up so many international drivers
Khemaran’s failed test highlighted something driving instructors see all the time – the UK test is in a completely different league to the US one.
In the States, tests are shorter and less strict. In the UK, they’re loaded with technical checks, observation rules, and pressure from real-world traffic.
Every signal, mirror check, and maneuver counts. And even small slip-ups – like leaving your turn signal on too long or not looking over your shoulder before reversing – can cost you a pass.
Khemaran came in confident, even with no lessons. But confidence alone doesn’t pass a test where one wrong move can be a serious fault.

Many drivers moving to the UK underestimate how tough the rules really are. Watching videos isn’t a replacement for real lessons, and this test proved it.
Khemaran might’ve failed, but he gave the internet a front-row seat to what happens when American habits meet British road rules.
Thinking of taking the UK test with no lessons? You might want to rethink that.
