This American was shocked by the ‘next-level technology’ he saw in a Chinese parking lot.

Content creator Christian Grossi was in the city of Suzhou when he came across some brilliantly simple car-based technology.

He shared a clip of it in action and got a lot of people talking.

It makes you wonder why this hasn’t been rolled out in more countries.

This American was stunned by the ‘next-level technology’ in a Chinese parking lot

Christian Grossi was in a parking lot in the Chinese city of Suzhou when he decided to show his followers something cool.

You may have heard that China has largely shunned cash in recent years.

Well, that generally applies when it comes to parking lots, too.

QR codes are plastered on the floor in front of each bay, and people scan them with their phones to pay for an allotted time.

That sounds pretty standard, right?

Most parking lots in Western countries are going the same way.

It feels like you can’t go to a parking lot these days without having to download an app.

But that’s not what caught Grossi’s eye.

Beneath each car was a flat panel, which looked pretty innocuous at first.

However, if you parked your car for longer than the time you’d paid for, this panel would activate.

It would tilt out of the ground and effectively trap the car in the bay.

Sure, you could try driving away – but your car’s undercarriage would suffer the consequences.

Things in China are constantly impressing Westerners

Grossi’s followers were impressed by the parking lot technology and shared their admiration in the comments section.

“Love your posts, you make me want to visit China,” one person commented.

“These people are living in the future,” another wrote.

It’s no wonder that this sentiment has become commonplace online.

After all, China’s car technology is now judged to be miles ahead of America’s, and that gap is only going to get wider going forward.

And it’s not just in terms of cars that the country is flexing internationally.

There’s also the fact that China built more robots in one year than America built in a whole decade.

Then there’s this humanoid robot, which raced against a human.
