If you’re in the market for an air purifier, you might be wondering if you should spend $32 on one or splurge and spend up to $1,100 on one.

Well, luckily for you, American YouTuber Project Farm did an interesting test on a range of air purifiers to see which one was the best.

The tests involved seeing which produced the most air volume and removed the most smoke and dust, before concluding.

These tests also helped the YouTuber determine whether spending more on an air purifier is the right thing to do – take a deep breath, we’re going in.

This is how price can affect an air purifier

It isn’t so obvious that price can directly impact the quality of a product.

But that is what these tests were all about, and ultimately, it could help you save money.

The first test saw Project Farm see how much air each purifier moved.

As it transpired, the budget models moved very little, with the Fulminare moving 13cfm max.

Meanwhile, larger and more expensive units moved more, with the most being the Coway, moving 293cfm.

Incredibly, though, the Fulminare was the quietest at 45db.

The bigger models, however, such as from Dyson, weren’t much noisier at 48.7db.

Immediately, then, a more expensive model can have advantages.

When it came to moving smoke, the smaller air purifiers also really struggled, whereas the big ones worked their magic.

A higher price doesn’t always mean better quality

Following these tests, the air purifiers were tested to see how much dust they could remove.

Quality and size again affected how much each one could shift.

Most of the mid-size to large purifiers were able to clean all the dust within a couple of minutes.

Even the smaller models were able to do so.

Not content with the first smoke test, the YouTuber tested them in a large room with smoke from burnt toast.

They were left in a 240ft room for 30 minutes in total.

In this test, it was the WINIX air purifier that emerged on top, removing 3.9 million particles in total.

All of the top four removed over three million particles, including the Levoit Mini, Coway, and Dyson.

So, did the price really affect how good an air purifier was?

Well, the best for overall value was the WINIX, which costs $180.

This is a big difference between the Dyson that costs well over $1,000.

So as far as pricing goes, you don’t have to spend $1,200 to get a good air purifier.

But clearly, you have to spend a bit more than $32.
