This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was being sold out of Portugal.
It’s a striking car in its own right, but the history behind it makes it all the more of a catch.
Ayrton Senna, the Formula One champion, had an eye for good cars.
Having won three World Championship titles in 1988, 1990, and 1991, he ought to have known his cars as one of the all-time greats.

When he wasn’t racing to victory on a track, he was enjoying downtime in Portugal, where he drove this Silver Metallic 911.
Due to legal restrictions on foreign nationals, Senna was unable to have the car registered in his own name.
Therefore, it was plated and housed by his close friend and long-time supporter, Antonio Carlos de Almeida Braga.

At one point, the car had been modified, with ‘Turbo-Style’ rear fenders and yellow paint added.
However, it was returned to its original specifications between June and December 2024.
A ‘worthy tribute’ to a sporting legend
At any rate, Senna’s signature remains on the back of the driver’s seat.

And the documentation that came along with the car tells the full story, too.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, the 911 also appeared in the 2010 Netflix documentary Senna.
The SBX Cars listing said it best when it described this car as ‘more than a sports car, it is a worthy tribute to a legend’.
And now one lucky person is the proud owner of a piece of automotive history.
