This 1973 Lincoln Continental started life as a fairly traditional slice of American luxury.
It did not stay that way.
At some point, it was handed to a California coachbuilder with a very different vision.
And that’s how it ended up with chrome everywhere and actual granite inside the cabin.

The 1973 Lincoln Continental that swapped wood for stone
What you’re looking at is the Mark IV Bugazzi, a California-built custom from the 1970s that turned a stately Lincoln into something closer to a rolling monument.
It’s bold, theatrical, and currently headed to auction – presumably for a buyer with strong forearms and even stronger confidence.
Built by Hollywood Coach Builders, the car is believed to be one of around 12 made, with just two thought to survive today.
And to achieve the look, most of the original body panels were scrapped and replaced entirely.

Up front, the transformation is impossible to miss.
The grille towers, drenched in chrome, flanked by circular headlights tucked into square surrounds.
The front fenders stretch forward with extra brightwork, while the stance sits low over white-wall tires and silver wheels, fully committed to the era.
Around back, there’s a reworked roofline, redesigned rear panels, and a new decklid finished with a spare wheel carrier.
According to Mecum Auctions, the car wears a shimmering Gold Pearl clear coat with Ice Pearl accents and hand-painted graphics that only make sense if subtlety was never on the mood board.

Instead of wood veneer or plush carpeting, inside you’re greeted by slabs of solid granite lining the transmission tunnel, rear console, and all four door panels.
Not granite-look trim.
Actual stone.
It’s paired with re-trimmed seats and a refreshed dashboard, but let’s be honest – the granite is doing most of the talking.
Under the hood, thankfully, things stay classic.
Power comes from a 460 cubic-inch V8, paired with an automatic transmission sourced from a C6 Corvette.

It’s big, unapologetic American muscle anchoring what might be one of the most over-the-top coach-built interiors ever attempted.

The Mark IV Bugazzi feels like a snapshot of a time when coachbuilders weren’t afraid to push luxury into spectacle.
European cues – think Rolls-Royce proportions – collide with Detroit bulk and horsepower.
It’s excess layered on excess.
And now, decades later, cars like this are resurfacing as rolling time capsules.

They’re reminders that customization once meant starting over entirely, not just ticking a few options boxes.
There’s no estimate listed for this one yet.
But if you’ve ever wanted a 1973 Lincoln Continental with a granite interior and a massive V8, this might be your moment.
