This beautiful 1997 McLaren F1 is looking for a new home, but if you fancy snapping it up, you’ll need deep pockets.

Launched in 1992, the iconic McLaren F1 is a car that needs no introduction.

Across its production run, only 106 McLaren F1s were made, including variants, like the F1 LM and F1 GT.

And now you can get your hands on one, but it’ll cost you.

Fancy snapping up a McLaren F1? Now’s your chance

The McLaren F1 has become a bit of a holy grail for car collectors.

But with only 106 ever being made, and the Sultan of Brunei owning nine of them, opportunities to buy one don’t come up very often.

However, this stunning 1997 McLaren F1 is set to go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s.

The car has had just three owners and has less than 6,500 miles on the clock.

The 1997 McLaren F1 is chassis number 062 and is the 53rd model built; it’s also one of only seven F1 imported into the US from new by Ameritech.

The car’s SA9AB5AC1V1048062 Ameritech chassis number makes it an even rarer example.

The listing reveals that the car has also had several McLaren Special Operations upgrades over the years, including upgraded air conditioning, upgraded radiators, sports exhaust, and an aluminum fuel tank.

The 1997 McLaren also comes with its original manual, original luggage set, the tool roll, a travel suitcase, and a garment bag.

It was originally bought new by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, the man who recently overtook Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg to become the second richest person in the world, and was delivered to him in August 1997.

It was bought by a second owner in 2005, before then being sold again in 2010.

Now it’s looking for a fourth, but if you’re hoping to snap up, you’ll need deep pockets as its been valued in excess of $23 million.

So, maybe one to pop on the wish list.

The F1 is a very special sports car

As the estimated price tag might let you know, the McLaren F1 is a very special car.

When it was launched back in 1992, it was the world’s fastest production car, and it has won several titles and accolades since.

It was the last road-legal, series-produced vehicle to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and in 1998 clocked a top speed of 240.1mph, earning a spot in the Guinness World Records.

Decades on, the F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated production car in the world, although faster cars have been built, they use forced induction engines.
