The Toyota Mega Cruiser SUV is a super rare vehicle, and Japan’s answer to the mighty Humvee and Hummer, and one from 1996 has cropped up for sale in the United States at Cars & Bids.

Toyota’s giant off-roader really does live up to its name, with huge wheels and a presence that make it look more aggressive and potent than its American counterpart.

Officially, it was only sold in Japan, so fans of it in America have had to rely on imports to be able to buy one.

Few cars that have come up for sale have had the same gravitas as the Mega Cruiser.

What makes the Toyota Mega Cruiser so special?

The Toyota Mega Cruiser is a giant SUV, measuring 200.4 inches long, 85.4 inches wide, and 81.7 inches tall.

With such monstrous dimensions, it is little wonder that Toyota gave the SUV such a name.

Initially, the car was intended as an emergency rescue and ambulance service vehicle.

But private owners soon became interested in the giant SUV.

When it went on sale in Japan, it cost just over $98,000, which was a lot of money, especially in the 1990s.

As you would expect, the Mega Cruiser was four-wheel drive, which helped it be quite nimble despite its size.

Power came from a 4.1-liter inline-four turbodiesel engine producing 153hp.

The giant SUV is a rarity in the United States

As it was only sold in Japan, the massive Toyota is a rarity outside of its home country.

This particular Mega Cruiser only came to the United States three years ago and is one of just 133 ever made.

Its owner has stated it is up for sale due to having no room to accommodate the vehicle.

Even in 2025, it is the largest passenger vehicle ever built by Toyota.

It is also the same size as the Humvee and Hummer H1.

As a Japan-spec car, it is right-hand drive and is finished in a vibrant white with a gray interior.

The only modifications made to it are the tinted windows, but other than that, it is completely stock.

At the time of writing, the SUV had five days left on its auction, and bidding stood at $70,807.
