Audi has reportedly set its sights on annual sales of two million cars and is considering opening up a plant in the United States.

The German carmaker is headquartered in Ingolstadt, Germany, and has nine production facilities across the globe.

However, unlike other German marques, such as BMW and Mercedes, Audi doesn’t have a plant in the US.

This could be set to change, as the company eyes long-term annual sales targets of two million units a year.

Audi reportedly wants to hit annual sales of two million units

In 2023, Audi hit a new milestone after selling 1,895,240 vehicles worldwide.

However, global sales slipped by 11.8 percent in 2024 and continued to slide another 5.9 percent in the first half of 2025.

For 2025, the marque is hoping to hit sales of between 1.7 million and 1.8 million, according to a new report in Reuters

A source told the outlet, CEO Gernot Doellner is working on a new strategy, which aims to target two million sales annually.

A timeline for the proposed plans has not been released, and Audi declined to comment on the report.

The source went on to say that the automaker thinks America could be its more important growth opportunity when it comes to sales.

Currently, it shifts around 200,000 units in the States, but has bold ambitions of almost doubling that amount.

The new strategy isn’t just looking at ways to boost sales in the US, according to the report, Audi is also considering opening its first plant in America.

The company has been reviewing the idea for some time, but is reportedly set to make a decision by the end of the year.

The carmaker recently unveiled its new concept car

News of its sales strategy comes just days after the carmaker unveiled its exciting Concept C

The Concept C is an open-top, all-electric sports car that has drawn comparisons to the iconic TT

The Concept C is a lot bigger than the TT and it runs on an electric powertrain.

However, its overall proportions and the spacious cabin both honor the TT.

Although just a prototype for now, the Concept C is fully drivable and car enthusiasts are hoping it could herald the arrival of a brand-new TT.
