The Lotus Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition might be the boldest Porsche Cayman rival Australia has seen yet.
Revealed by Australian distributor Simply Sports Cars, this limited-run special takes the already sharp Emira and turns the wick up dramatically.
Only 15 examples will be built, and with one already spoken for, it is as exclusive as it is aggressive.
If you thought the standard four-cylinder Emira was quick, this one rewrites the script.

Designed with the track in mind
Priced from A$249,990 ($178,200) before on-road costs, the Bathurst Edition sits well above the regular Lotus Emira Turbo and Turbo SE in Australia.

That hefty premium buys far more than stickers and bragging rights.
Under the engine cover is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, but it has been comprehensively retuned to produce more than 500hp, or 375kW.
That is a staggering jump over the 268kW of the standard Turbo and even the 298kW offered in the Turbo SE.
Simply Sports Cars has not released official acceleration or top speed figures, although given the power increase, it is safe to expect serious pace.
For reference, the Turbo SE already claims 0-60mph in under 4.0 seconds, and a 180mph top speed.
With well over 500hp on tap, it should feel every bit the supercar hunter.
The upgrades are not limited to straight-line grunt.
The Lotus Emira Turbo Bathurst Edition has been developed with track use firmly in mind.

It rides on three-way adjustable dampers, features revised wheel alignment and a lower stance, and comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Buyers can opt for Yokohama A052 rubber if they want an even sharper edge.
Braking is handled by AP Racing four-piston calipers front and rear, clamping two-piece ventilated discs.

Aerodynamic tweaks complete the transformation.
A carbon-fibre front splitter and GT4-style rear wing add visual drama and downforce, while Bathurst Edition decals and livery underline its connection to Mount Panorama.

Inside, an individually numbered build plate reminds owners they are part of a very small club.
Unveiled at a Lotus-only track day at Bathurst, the car even completed demonstration laps at the iconic circuit.

Each buyer also receives entry to the next Lotus Bathurst track day in 2027.
With just 15 units available and 14 build slots remaining, this could be the most extreme factory-tuned AMG M139-powered Lotus yet.
For those cross-shopping a Porsche Cayman, the message is clear: the fight just got very interesting.
