The Ferrari 360 was a hugely important car for the Italian automotive manufacturer.

Not only did its arrival mark a departure of its predecessor – the F355 – it brought about a radical design change, with its chassis and body entirely made from aluminum.

It was better built than the F355, too, evidenced by the fact one man has used his supercar daily for 15 years.

Where prices today for a 360 range anywhere from $86,890 to $112,985, the man in question got his supercar cheap due to one small characteristic that made it hard to tell.

Owner of the Ferrari 360

Incase you’re not familiar with the name, Ratarossa is the nickname of Scott Chivers.

Ratarossa is a UK-based Ferrari enthusiast who owns a Ferrari 360, as well as a modified Ferrari Testarossa.

Ratarossa’s popular YouTube channel is a go-to resource for Ferrari enthusiasts and classic car fans, with his videos including building a dream Ferrari F40, and restoring his daily-driven Ferrari 360.

Speaking of the F40, this guy is building the supercar from scratch in his garage and he’s just sourced a real F140 engine.

Meanwhile, these guys strapped a pair of turbos onto a Ferrari F12 engine to create ‘world’s most powerful V12 Ferrari’.

Rotarossa’s Ferrari 360

The 360 has been Ratarossa’s reliable daily driver for nearly 15 years, which he originally purchased at a low price due to one small characteristic.

Now if the truth be told, when you think of a Ferrari, there’s only one color that springs to mind – red, or Rosso Corsa as it’s officially known.

The iconic Ferrari color, which translates to ‘Racing Red’, was the colour of the first Prancing Horse, and is featured in many of the brand’s most legendary models.

However, Ratarossa bagged a bargain with his 360, as its exterior was adorned in black, aka Nero.

Although it’s a less popular color, Prancing Horses look sleek, aggressive, and timeless in Nero.

Restoring his 360 after 15 years

The YouTuber’s 360 has provided significant driving enjoyment, but after prolonged use, it requires a full restoration to recover its appearance and function, which is the basis of a video posted to his channel.

In the video, the YouTuber discovers that several parts and elements will require extensive work.

This includes addressing engine issues and stripping the vehicle for a comprehensive respray.

Challenges during the restoration

Preparations reveal that every component is in need of either repair or replacement, which comes at a significant cost when it’s a Ferrari.

During the restoration, Ratarossa and his team faces difficulties removing components, especially the rear windows, which were heavily sealed.

He also planned to upgrade the supercar’s wing badges to a recessed style, instead of the previous ones that didn’t meet original specifications, doing so using a newly developed device which allows for a precise cutout.

Painting decisions

After prepping the bodywork, the YouTuber experiments with different paint colours, including a custom purple and the original black.

The video wraps up with an appeal for audience opinions on the color choice for the Ferrari, so you’ll have to watch the video to see which color he went with!
