Most cars unearthed from barn finds aren’t always in great condition or ‘adequately habitable’ places, but this abandoned Ford GT in Atlanta was too far gone even to be cranked without hazmat gear.
After spending nearly more than a decade in one place, someone decided to rescue it and give it a second chance.
However, the rescue part was probably more tedious than fixing the car itself.
It was all thanks to the dirt, mold, fungus, and unused grocery products inside the car.

Abandoned Ford GT was almost beyond rescue
The guys from the VINwiki YouTube channel headed to Atlanta to rescue this Ford GT that had been inside a hoarder’s garage for well over a decade.
It was almost certainly a hoarder’s garage because it appeared more like a store room for unused goods than a garage itself.
Granted, most people use their garages for all sorts of things, but this one wasn’t ideal for anyone.
Thanks to 15 years of neglect, this abandoned Ford GT was riddled with most forms of filth — from dead animals to mold and fungus.
And not to mention the otherworldly scents inside the car.
Although we can only imagine what it was actually like, calling it ‘dirty’ would be a gross understatement — no pun intended.
That’s precisely why its knights in white leather had to opt for hazmat suits before going anywhere near it.
Once they had protective gear on, they attempted to clear the debris surrounding the iconic sports car.
At long last, they managed to get inside, but they also had to clear the junk inside even to sit properly.
Two hazmat suits and a rescue operation
You can restore practically anything these days, but this Ford required a little more than a typical restoration job.
If it actually gets restored someday, it will be worth quite a lot.
One of these was recently sold on Supercar Blondie’s SBX Cars for $450,000.
Amid all the gross parts, there was still a silver lining for this abandoned GT.
The super-powerful 5.4-liter DOHC 550hp V8 powerhouse was very much alive despite being away from the road for so long.
Moreover, the GT was still driveable, so there was some less work to be done later.
After all, there’s nothing a power wash and some appearance makeovers can’t fix.
This abandoned barn find Ferrari is proof of just that.
Or this Mazda RX-7 washed for the first time in 23 years, for that matter.
