A billionaire businessman based in Dubai, UAE, has just paid $1.5 million for a used luxury Chinese sedan, but the Hongqi Golden Sunflower Guoli Lanting Yayu is no ordinary car.
Recent trends have seen Chinese cars become cheaper and cheaper as they look to undercut the European and American markets.
To the extent that brands like BYD have completely surpassed Tesla.
But that doesn’t mean all of the Chinese cars are being mass-sold at ‘affordable’ prices. In fact, there are a number of incredible luxury cars worth millions, and one has just been bought by a Dubai-based billionaire.

Dubai-based billionaire splashes $1.5m on second-hand luxury Chinese sedan, and it is worth every penny
There are a number of luxury Chinese cars that have broken the million-dollar barrier, such as the Karlmann King armored SUV.
But while that untamed beast thrives in off-road comfort, this is the Hongqi Golden Sunflower Guoli Lanting Yayun, which is arguably the most luxurious sedan ever made in China.
The six-meter Guoli limo is a masterclass in design, being tilted to mimic the Earth’s axis, painted with a majestic ancient Chinese calligraphy tapestry that flows throughout the interior from roof to dash, and finished off with solid gold trims.
Despite being ‘second hand’, the famed art piece has now been sold for 11 million ($1.5m), and it’s being shipped to Dubai, UAE.

The lucky recipient is billionaire businessman Stanislav Semenov, a Russian-born entrepreneur living in Dubai.
Semenov reportedly bought it outright as it was showcased at the Auto Shanghai car event earlier this year.
He’s technically not the first owner of this luxury Chinese sedan, though, as it has been pre-registered to another owner.
But if he drives it, he’d be the first person to ever get behind the wheel.
It still has zero miles on the clock.
That is, if he does plan to drive it at all. It’s not uncommon for beautiful creations like this to be placed as artwork.
Is the Hongqi Golden Sunflower Guoli Lanting Yayu the best China has to offer?
The Hongqi is certainly the most expensive sedan to be sold in China.
But that doesn’t always mean it’s the best.
Under the hood, this magical car is fitted with a quite modest V8 engine, which goes to show that this is definitely style over substance.
As for other Chinese supercars, well, there’s no denying that they make some spectacular and expensive models out there in Asia.
Specifically, the AI-powered JiYue Robo X that shoots off in the blink of an eye, or the SU7 sedan that is quicker than a Rimac Nevera.

Neither car can take the crown as the best in China, though, having all excelled in different ways.
Still, the Hongqi Golden Sunflower Guoli Lanting Yayu is now off to pastures new in Dubai, serving as a beautiful mosaic in the hands of a business tycoon.
