These Australian drivers couldn’t believe their eyes when a billionaire opened up a gas station where fuel cost less than $1 per liter.

Adrian Portelli decided to give back to his city of Melbourne by opening up a gas station with a difference.

The 37-year-old entrepreneur has made a whole lot of money over the years, and now he wants to give back.

His service station LMCT+ Fuel will offer select Australian motorists the chance to fill up for $1 a liter – you’ll be hard-pressed to find better prices than that.

Drivers have been lining up in a hurry for this $1 per liter gas station

Adrian Portelli, otherwise known as the Lambo Guy, has become one of Australia’s youngest and most high-profile billionaires.

Known for his extensive real estate portfolio and world-class supercar collection, he’s built himself quite the fortune.

At the heart of his billion-dollar empire is LMCT+, an online rewards club.

Through this, members pay a subscription fee for access to discounts at retailers and entry into massive giveaways.

This venture alone generates an estimated revenue of between $50 and $100 million.

Now, his next business move has been revealed – to open a gas station.

In the Melbourne neighborhood of Preston, LMCT+ Fuel will provide select drivers with dirt-cheap fuel.

With fuel prices averaging $1.86 per liter and diesel coming at around $2.65 per liter, this gas station will come as a big relief.

This perk is only available to members of the subscription rewards club, however.

When the ribbon was cut on the morning of April 23, 20 cars were already queuing to fill up, 9News reported.

Portelli organized private traffic management, while police were on hand to monitor the situation.

There’s been some controversy over the crowds, with some media outlets questioning whether Portelli would foot the bill if police had been called out.

The billionaire made no secret of how he felt about such coverage.

“I’ve paid over $100 million in taxes to this country, so why don’t you use my taxes for good work instead of wasting it on absolute rubbish,” Portelli responded in an Instagram story.

Gas stations are very expensive these days

It’s no secret that gas has gotten very expensive these last few months.

There are some places where it’s cheaper to get than others, but drivers all around the world are feeling the pinch at the moment.

Fortunately, there are some initiatives to make it more affordable for people who are struggling.

Big Sean opened up a free gas station in his Detroit hometown, and the community’s reaction said everything.

Following stints at LadBible, The Sun, The New York Post, and the Daily Mail, Ben joined the team full-time in February 2025. In his role as Senior Content Writer, his sparkling copy, the ability to sniff out a good story at 100 paces, and a GSOH quickly led to him becoming an integral and invaluable member of the writing staff.
